Wood roaches come from outside the home
A wood roach is larger than the familiar kitchen cockroach, dark brown in colour, and it lives naturally in decaying timber, damp soil and drains close to a building. It enters through gaps in wooden doors, ventilation openings and drainage pipes, and it often turns up in storage rooms, under sinks or in areas near outdoor planters. Seeing it repeatedly means the entry point has not yet been dealt with.
Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us your district and where you have been seeing it, and we agree a time to look at the likely entry points and treat the affected areas.

- Drains and gaps
- Storage and doors
What does wood-roach control cover?
These are the areas and parts the work goes through, depending on what is found in the property and the condition of the surfaces.
- Timber entry points
We inspect wooden doors, frames and any timber panel that is cracked or damp, because wood roaches use these as a route in.
- Drain openings and pipes
We treat drain pipe openings and service gaps, as wood roaches climb up through drainage networks from outside sources.
- Damp areas
Moisture collecting under sinks and behind appliances keeps conditions that suit this species, so we treat those areas directly.
- Storage rooms and wall corners
A dark storeroom with a wooden floor or stacked cardboard is a preferred habitat for wood roaches, and we look at those corners during the job.
- Cracks in walls and ceilings
Wood roaches move through cracks that connect to the outside or to pigeon nests on the roof, and we trace and treat those routes.
- Adjacent outdoor areas
When a garden or large plant pots sit close to the building, we review those areas, as they are a frequent source of wood roaches.
How do we start?
Three simple steps, and we take care of the rest.
Call or message us on WhatsApp
Tell us the service you need and your district.
Describe what you noticed
Tell us where the cockroaches have been appearing, whether near doors, in storage or under sinks, and which district you are in.
We agree a time and you prepare
We agree a time that suits you, and you clear the storage area and any cupboards near the affected spots, and keep children and pets away from the work areas.
The work and what to check
We treat the entry points and affected areas, then check the same spots over the following days: a drop in the number of cockroaches you see is a sign the work has reached the source.
A service that comes to your door
- We come to youOur team arrives at your home with its equipment.
- One callCall or message us on WhatsApp and we arrange the rest.
- The same team handles related pestsWe also treat termites, bed bugs, rodents, ants, mosquitoes, flies, reptiles and pigeons.
- Describing it is enough to startCall or message us on WhatsApp and tell us what you are seeing, and we agree what suits your situation.
One worry is that wood roaches will return after treatment through neighbouring units or shared drains. This species comes from outside rather than breeding indoors, so treating its entry points and external sources is the core of the job, and we agree the scope with you when you call.

Questions about Wood-roach control
How do I know what I am seeing is a wood roach and not another type?
A wood roach is larger and flatter than the small brown kitchen cockroach, dark brown to almost black in colour, and it usually appears alone near outer doors or in storage rather than in groups inside the kitchen. If you are not sure, describe what you see when you call and we can help you tell the difference.
How do I prepare before wood-roach treatment?
Clear the storage area and cupboards near the affected spots, move cardboard boxes away from walls, and leave access to drain openings and under sinks. If there is old wooden furniture in the areas mentioned, let us know when we agree the time.
What should I check after the treatment to know it has worked?
Check the spots where you were seeing them over the days after treatment. Fewer cockroaches appearing shows the entry source was dealt with. If they keep appearing in the same numbers, there may be an entry point that was not spotted, and you can contact us to review it.
Why do wood roaches appear more on ground floors than upper floors?
Wood roaches favour damp soil and decaying timber near ground level and reach ground floors easily through lower ventilation openings and drain pipes. On upper floors they usually enter through rooftop access or bird nests above the building, which is what we look at when you tell us where you are seeing them.
Does the amount of timber in the home affect the job?
Yes, a lot of wooden furniture, timber ceilings and multiple wooden doors increase the number of areas that need checking. Old timber with cracks or signs of damp also needs more attention. That is why we ask you to describe the property when you call, so we can agree the right scope of work.
