A window AC is one self-contained unit: the coil, the fan and the compressor all sit together inside a metal casing. That design means dust and grime build up in places you cannot reach while the unit is in place, which is why the body is pulled out of the opening before any cleaning begins.

What does window AC cleaning cover?
These are the parts the cleaning goes through once the unit is out of its opening, depending on its condition and what you notice in it.
- Removing the unit
The unit is drawn out carefully from its fitted opening without damaging the frame or the surrounding wall, and this step is what makes every part of the body reachable.
- The casing and metal body
The outer cover is removed and cleaned of the dust and grime that collect on its sides and base, because the metal body traps a thick layer of dust drawn in through the ventilation slots.
- The front coil
The cooling coil and its thin fins are cleaned of compacted dust between them, because that dust blocks the airflow and directly weakens the cooling.
- The fan and shaft
Dirt builds up on the fan blades and upsets their balance, causing a vibrating noise from the unit, and removing it lets the fan spin quietly again.
- The drain tray
The drain tray collects condensation water that forms while the unit runs, and cleaning it stops moisture and grime building up, which cause smells or water leaking inwards.
- The wall opening
Before the unit goes back in, the frame and the edge of the opening are cleared of dust that has gathered around them, because that dust is drawn back in once the AC runs.

One worry is that the frame or the wall will be damaged when the unit comes out. In practice, the unit is fitted in a way that allows it to be pulled out cleanly without touching the opening, and that is how window AC cleaning normally goes. Describe where it is fitted, and leave the rest to us.

Questions about Window AC cleaning
How do I know my window AC needs cleaning?
The clearest signs are weaker cold airflow even on the highest setting, a dusty or damp smell when it starts, or a new vibrating noise. A window AC draws in both room air and outside air, so dust builds up in it faster in the sandy climate.
Can a window AC be cleaned without taking it out?
The filter and front face can be wiped in place, but the coil behind it, the fan and the drain tray need the body to come out of the opening to be reached properly. That is what separates a full window AC clean from filter cleaning alone, and when you call we agree what suits your unit.
I am worried the AC will fall while it is being taken out, what protects the wall and frame?
A window unit is heavy and needs support while it is drawn out, which is why attempting it alone is not advised. The work is normally done from inside the room after the fixing screws are removed and the unit is supported by hand. If there is an obstruction or an access difficulty, we tell you that when you call.
What changes if the window AC is fitted high up?
The height affects how the unit is reached and how much work is needed to take it out safely, and it is one of the factors that changes the price. That is why we ask about the position and the height when you call, before we agree the details.
What should I check after the unit is refitted?
Run the AC and check that the air flows out at normal strength, that there is no vibration or knocking when it starts, and that no water drips from the indoor side of the unit. A clean drain tray sends the water outside, so if you see it pooling on the inside tell us straight after we finish.
