Kitchen marble cleaning

A stain on your kitchen marble that will not wipe away? Marble is porous and absorbs what touches it. We clean it in the way this material needs.

About the service

Marble absorbs stains before you notice

Kitchen marble meets lemon juice, vinegar, cooking oil and dark marks from tea and coffee every day. What makes it delicate is that its porous surface absorbs acidic liquids quickly, and they react with the minerals inside it, leaving a dull patch or a deep stain that an ordinary wipe cannot lift.

Tell us what you see on the marble and which district you are in, and we agree a time. We start by reading the surface and the type of mark, then we carry out the cleaning in the way that suits the condition of your marble, and we walk you through what to watch for afterwards.

  • Edges and joints

What does kitchen marble cleaning cover?

These are the surfaces and parts the cleaning goes through, depending on what you see on your kitchen marble and the condition of the surface.

  • Marble worktops

We remove grease marks and acid staining from the flat marble surface, which is the part most exposed to liquids, heat and fine scratches every day.

  • Marble splashbacks

The marble wall behind the hob collects oil spray and condensed steam, building up a greasy layer that needs a different approach from the flat worktop.

  • Edges and corners

The edges and corners of marble collect food residue and dough that harden over time, and we clean them with care to leave the polished profile intact.

  • Joints and sealant

The sealant between marble and wall, or between marble slabs, turns yellow or dark with moisture and grease. We remove the build-up where it can be treated.

  • Rust and absorption marks

Metal tins left on marble leave rust marks that travel into the pores. This is a different kind of stain and needs its own treatment before the rest of the surface is cleaned.

  • Post-clean check

When we finish, we show you the surface in good light so you can confirm the mark you started with is gone, and we point out anything that may need polishing later if there is such a thing.

How do we start?

Three simple steps, and we take care of the rest.

  1. Call or message us on WhatsApp

Tell us the service you need and your district.

  2. Tell us what you see

Describe the type of mark on the marble, whether it is grease, an acid patch, rust or yellowing, and tell us which district you are in.

  3. We agree a time

We settle on a time that suits you, and you clear the marble surface of appliances, utensils and food items before we arrive.

  4. We work, you check

We read the surface first, then carry out the cleaning. When we are done, we show you the result in good light and tell you whether the marble may need polishing at a later stage.

Questions about Kitchen marble cleaning

How do I know a stain on my marble needs specialist cleaning?

If the mark stays after wiping with water and ordinary soap, it has most likely been absorbed into the marble's pores and a daily wipe will not shift it. A dull patch or a change in the surface colour in one spot is a sign that the liquid has reacted with the minerals in the marble, and that needs a different approach.

Does lemon juice really damage marble?

Yes. Marble is made mainly of calcium carbonate, which reacts with acids, including mild ones like lemon juice, vinegar and some kitchen cleaners. The damage starts as a loss of shine in a small area, then shows as a dull patch. The sooner it is treated, the easier it is to clean.

What should I prepare before you come to clean the kitchen marble?

Clear the marble surface of appliances such as the blender and water pump, cooking pots, bottles and food items. If there is new sealant or paint near the surface, let us know when you call so we can take that into account.

What should I check after the kitchen marble is cleaned?

Look at the surface in natural or strong light from a low angle to spot any uneven sheen. Check that the mark you started with has gone, and look along the edges and corners where residue collects. If you notice a spot that is not quite right, tell us straight away.

What is the difference between cleaning marble and polishing marble?

Cleaning removes stains, grease and surface dirt. Polishing treats fine scratches and lost shine and brings back the marble's original lustre. Some cases need cleaning alone, others need both. When you call, we ask what you notice so we can agree on what suits your marble. Marble polishing and restoration is available in the list below.
