Black marble forgives nothing
Black marble absorbs light and reflects it at the same time, which is what makes it striking and demanding in equal measure. The white haze left by water droplets and the fine scratches from furniture or footfall show up on a dark surface far more than they would on any pale stone.
Tell us what you see on your black marble and which district you are in, whether the work is for a floor, a surface or stair treads, and we agree a time that suits you and take care of the rest.

What does black marble polishing cover?
These are the parts and stages black marble polishing goes through, depending on the condition of the surface and what you notice on it.
- Reading the dark surface
We check the surface in direct light to find scratches, white marks and where the finish has broken down, because black marble can hide flaws in low light and reveal them under strong light.
- Removing white marks
Calcium deposits from tap water sit on black marble as white haze and need treating before polishing, because they are a mineral build-up in the stone's pores rather than a surface mark.
- Grinding fine scratches
Fine scratches are removed by grinding in stages from coarser to finer, which levels the surface before polishing and makes the final gloss even across the whole area.
- Polishing the dark surface
Polishing on black marble brings out the depth of the colour and restores the reflective gloss that defines this stone, and it needs careful control so the surface does not look uneven.
- Edges and corners
Edges and corners of dark slabs show scratches and wear clearly, and we treat them the same way as the main surface so the finish looks consistent throughout.
- Final check in direct light
We check the surface in direct light again when we finish, because black marble reveals any unevenness in the gloss when light hits it at an angle, something that is hard to see under diffused light.
How do we start?
Three simple steps, and we take care of the rest.
Call or message us on WhatsApp
Tell us the service you need and your district.
Tell us what you see
Tell us where the black marble is in your home, what you notice on it, whether white marks, scratches or a general loss of gloss, and which district you are in.
We agree a time
We settle on a time that suits you, and it helps to clear light furniture and rugs from the work area and let us know if the surface is in a bathroom, kitchen or hallway.
We work and check together
We finish the polishing and then check the surface with you in direct light, because black marble shows the result of the work clearly when light falls on it.
A service that comes to your door
- We come to youOur team arrives at your home with its equipment.
- One callCall or message us on WhatsApp and we arrange the rest.
- All your marble with the same teamWe polish natural marble, engineered marble, stair marble and vanity marble, and we do crystallisation polishing and marble restoration too.
- A call or message is enoughDescribe the state of your black marble in your own words by WhatsApp or phone and we agree what suits you.
One worry is that polishing might lighten the black marble's colour or leave the finish patchy. Black marble is polished in stages that end with the gloss being balanced, and a check in direct light shows any unevenness before we leave. Tell us what you see and leave the work to us.

Questions about Black marble polishing
How do I know my black marble needs polishing?
Black marble that needs polishing loses its clear reflection and looks grey or dull instead of deep and dark, and fine scratches show up clearly when light hits it at an angle. If white marks no longer come off with ordinary cleaning they are usually mineral deposits that need treating before polishing.
The white marks on my black marble will not come off with cleaning, why?
White marks that keep coming back on black marble usually come from calcium in tap water settling into the stone's pores rather than from surface dirt. They stand out more on a dark surface and need a different treatment from ordinary cleaning before the polishing stage.
What should I prepare before you arrive to polish the black marble?
Move rugs and light furniture away from the area to be polished, and let us know whether the surface is in a bathroom, kitchen, entrance or hallway, as that affects the access and the scope we agree when you call.
Do deep scratches in black marble come out with polishing?
Fine surface scratches come out through staged grinding and polishing. Deep scratches that go through the stone layer may need restoration work before polishing rather than polishing alone, and that is something we assess when you describe what you see and we look at the surface.
Does polishing black marble differ from polishing light-coloured marble?
Yes. Black marble reveals any unevenness in the gloss or white residue far more clearly than pale marble does, so each stage needs checking in direct light. The final adjustment of the gloss level is also more precise on a dark surface because the difference is immediately visible to the eye.
