What does fridge cleaning cover?

We take out the glass and plastic shelves and the vegetable drawers and wash them separately, because grease builds up in their joints and is hard to remove in place.

Questions about Fridge cleaning
What signs mean the fridge needs a full clean rather than a quick wipe?
If the smell returns shortly after a quick wipe, the source is in places a cloth cannot reach, such as the folds of the door seals, the back coil or under the drawers. Yellow patches on the interior walls or frost gathering in the freezer corners are also signs that a deeper clean is due.
Do I need to empty the fridge completely before you come?
Yes, emptying the food before we arrive lets us reach every surface properly and makes the clean more thorough. If you have large quantities, arrange to keep them somewhere cool for a while, and mention it when you call so we can agree a suitable time.
Why does the smell keep coming back even though I wipe the fridge regularly?
Wiping by hand only reaches exposed surfaces. The rubber seal has narrow folds that trap moisture and grow mould that is hard to spot, and a dust-coated back coil raises the interior temperature slightly, which helps bacteria grow. A full clean reaches those places.
What should I check after the fridge is cleaned?
Open the door and check that the smell has gone, then feel along the door seal to confirm it grips the frame all the way round without gaps. Check the drawers slide freely and the shelves sit firmly in place. Once you put food back, notice whether the usual temperature is reached as before.
Does placing the fridge close to the wall affect how it is cleaned?
Yes, if the fridge is tight against the wall it is hard to reach the back coil and base to remove the dust. That is why we ask you to leave space behind it before we arrive. If it is heavy or in a tight spot, mention that when you call so we can prepare.
