Grout absorbs dirt and does not let it go easily
Grout is a porous material by nature, and that is what makes it trap grease, steam and fine dust inside its surface over time. In kitchens, thin layers of cooking grease settle on the joints with every meal. In bathrooms, calcium deposits and soap residue build up in the same lines day after day. The result is a fixed dark colour that wiping cannot shift.
Call or message us on WhatsApp, tell us your district and where the grout lines are that need cleaning, whether floor, wall or both. We agree a time that suits you and take care of the rest.

What does grout cleaning cover?
These are the parts the work goes through, depending on the type of grout, its location and its condition when we look at it.
- Kitchen floor grout
Grease and fine dust build up here, especially near the hob and the sink. We clean the lines deeply to remove the settled residue that has changed the colour of the grout.
- Kitchen wall grout
Steam and grease cling to the vertical joints behind the hob and sink. Wall grout absorbs fats too, and the approach to it differs from floor grout in the same kitchen.
- Bathroom floor grout
Constant moisture helps discolour the grout and fix deposits inside it. We clean the joints and check that the colour is even across the whole floor.
- Bathroom wall grout
Calcium deposits and soap residue whiten or cloud the joints depending on the water type. Hard water speeds up how quickly these deposits build on bathroom walls.
- Cracked or crumbling grout
Cracked grout lines lose their ability to stop moisture getting under the tiles. We point them out during the inspection and agree with you on how to deal with them.
- Narrow lines and corners
Corners and the junction between tiles and a wall or basin are the hardest places to reach, and dirt collects there more because daily wiping never gets to them.
How do we start?
Three simple steps, and we take care of the rest.
Call or message us on WhatsApp
Tell us the service you need and your district.
Tell us what you notice
Tell us where the discoloured joints are, whether in the kitchen, the bathroom or both, whether floor or wall, and which district you are in.
We agree a time
We settle on a time that suits you. Before we arrive, clear shelves near the work area and move any rugs or light furniture away from the floor sections to be cleaned.
We start the work
We clean the grout line by line, then invite you to see the result. After we finish, check that the colour is even and that the corners are as clean as the rest.

- Describe the grout in your own wordsA call or a WhatsApp message is enough to describe what you see in your tile grout.
One worry is that cleaning might damage the tiles themselves or crumble fragile grout. Questions about Grout cleaning
How do I know the grout needs specialist cleaning rather than ordinary washing?
If the colour stays dark after wiping with water and ordinary cleaner, the dirt is inside the pores of the grout, not just on the surface. Porous grout traps grease and deposits inside itself, and surface washing cannot reach them. That difference is what the inspection confirms.
Is cleaning wall grout different from floor grout?
Yes, vertical wall joints are affected more by steam and grease in the kitchen, and by calcium and soap in the bathroom. Floor grout traps heavier dust and grease and sometimes build-up from cleaning products. The location and type of deposit determine the right approach.
Does the hard water speed up grout discolouration in the bathroom?
Yes, hard water is rich in calcium and magnesium, and when it evaporates it leaves a white or grey film on bathroom grout lines that builds up quickly over weeks. Porous grout holds these deposits more than the tile surface itself, which is why the joints discolour before the tiles do.
Do I need to dry the bathroom or kitchen before the work?
It helps if the floor and walls are dry and not freshly wet when we start, because too much moisture makes it harder to inspect the grout and assess its condition. Let us know when we agree the time if the bathroom is heavily used in the morning and we will pick a suitable slot.
Is cracking in the grout a different problem from staining?
Yes, staining is caused by dirt building up in the pores of the grout and cleaning addresses it. Cracking means the grout has lost its bond, which is a completely different matter. Cracked grout lines open a path for moisture under the tiles. We tell you during the inspection if we find cracks so you can decide how to deal with them.
